Year 3 are lucky enough to have the sports coaches on a Monday afternoon this half term. We also have PE lessons on a Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure all children have their PE kit is in school for these days and earrings should be removed.

Children need the following P.E. Kit: Shorts or jogging bottoms, t-shirt, warmjumper/sweatshirt/tracksuit top, trainers

Now that the children are becoming competent readers it's important for them to practice reading every day. We ask that children bring their reading books to school each day so that they can read to an adult or independently. We value your support with reading. Please encourage your child to read at home and ask them questions about what they have read. Please make sure you have signed their reading record book to say they have read. Thank you for your support. Don't forget your child has books assigned to them on Bug club. The log in details are in their reading record book.

In order for the children to progress with their learning they need to practice the skills they have learnt at school, at home. We appreciate all of your support with this and aim to send home, half-termly, a selection of tasks related to our current topic. Please encourage your child to complete one task a week in their homework book. Homework books should be returned to school weekly for marking. We hope you enjoy working with your child.

Our topic this half term is…..

We are finding out about:

the parts of plants and their functions

different types of seed dispersal

plants' requirements for life

the life-cycle of plants

In English we are writing learning about narrative stories. Our core story this half-term is Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be comparing different versions of the story and writing our own version.

In Maths, we continue developing skills for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. As well as our times tables and counting! We are also covering fractions and time.

In Science we will be investigating what conditions and nutrients are best to help seeds germinate.
