Our Topic this term is:

As part of our topic on 'The Seaside' we have planned a visit for the children to  Hunstantion Sealife Centre.  We will be travelling by coach on Monday 19th June , leaving school at around 8.45am. The children will look around the centre and then have workshops to  learn about the sea creatures that can be found on the coast. Lunch will take place at  old Hunstanston  and following this the children will get the opportunity to build sandcastles on the beach.

We will be looking at UK seaside locations in pictures and on maps. Investigate what activities there are to do at the seaside and discuss what they were like in the past.  They will also compare differences between holidays today and holidays in the past with opportunities to talk about their own  holidays, discussing what they did and why they enjoyed them. If any of the children have pictures of recent holidays, please send them in for the children to talk about.

This term in English,  we will be reading  the stories  of the Lighthouse Keeper, Katie Morag, and the Rainbow Fish. The children will be learning how to  write  descriptive and narrative texts  with a  seaside theme.
We will also be consolidating our knowledge of sentence types, sentence construction, grammar and spelling. Please keep learning those Year 2 common exception words with your children.

Please remember to use Bug Club with your children at home.

They have copies of their passwords, if another copy is needed do not hesitate to ask your child's class teacher.  These will be given out at the beginning of the new term.

Reading with your child is so important, please read with them at least 3 times a week and sign their green reading books so with your help we can monitor your child's progress.

If a book gets lost at home please inform the class teacher.

In Maths children will also be challenged with Sumdog, a fun

multiplayer online game designed to improve math fact

Here is a website with games linked to all areas of maths your child could do at home.

The school code required by Sumdog

has changed, it is now 6cpp.

PE Days are Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has the correct kit for these days.

Year two will be going outside  this term for their P.E. lessons.

Please make sure they have appropriate clothing for outside sports such as athletics and cricket.
